Utah Trip Part 1
One day I hope to live in a ski resort. I just love to ski!! I can see myself as an ski instructor. Or maybe a ski patrolmen who skis the mountain making sure people are behaving.. Hee Hee!! I wonder if I'd ever tire of it. I really don't think so. I could wear jeans and cute winter boots all winter and be perfectly happy.
One day.......
Anyway..we just returned from Deer Valley, Utah on Thursday and we could not have ask for better ski days. In January, you never know what you may get, but we got sunny and clear sky's.
The top picture is with Sheree and Jan. Sheree is Tom's wife (Dan's partner). Jan has a house in the Canyon's in Park City. She seemed to know the ski runs very well. Jan took us by this house and it must have had 12 carved bears on it. As you can see, the one bear is on top of the house skiing. Very Cool. They also had ski lift chairs on their patio to sit.
This picture is of my friend Leslie and then also Jan. We are in front of an Acura dealer's house out of Chicago. They have a huge Indian Statue in front of their house. Supposedly, the husband won it playing back gammon. This house is also near Charlie Gibson's house (ABC's Anchorman-Nightly News)
I'll finish explaining our trip in Part 2. Details to come about my BOBSLEDDING EXPERIENCE!! BLAH!! Don't do it!!

Drama strikes again
First Snow of 2011
You can always count on at least one snowfall in the winter in the midsouth. Sometimes it's just a light dusting and other times it's 2-3 inches. This year we received close to 3 inches. It was a real treat for the kiddo's. One day out of school-That's a plus!! Sledding with friends and building snowmen equals another plus!! Usually everyone loves the snow at least for the first 12 hours but then we're ready for it to melt and return to life as we know it. I have no time for kids who miss school and children leaving their heavy coats, gloves, boots, scarves, etc at my backdoor. I'm not sure I could live up north where it's ALL THE TIME!!! I love to visit but that's it. Enjoy pictures from our SNOW DAY!!!

Food Blog
I just finished reading an article online about food blogs. What's a food Blog, you ask? It's where you keep a daily log of the food you have eaten. So...no worries..I'm not going to bore you everyday with a food blog but only today. From here, I'm going to look at what I've eaten and reevaluate.
Morning- Fiber One Cereal, Skim Milk with a banana. Green Tea
Lunch- Leftover Pot roast with carrots, potatoes and celery. Water
Snack-chips with cheese dip (huge no no), slice of boars head turkey.
Dinner- 1 Slider (mini hamburger), with cheese and a pickle. 2 servings of Baked Beans, and more chips with cheese dip. 1/4 cup of green beans. Water
Snack-handful of raisins
Most of you already know what I'm going to write, I SHOULD NOT HAVE EATEN the chips with cheese dip. Those calories add up fast. It's so easy to pop chips in your mouth and not realize how many you've eaten. The Fiber One Cereal was a great choice but I'm pretty sure I poured more than the recommended serving of 1/2 cup. The banana is not bad but it should have been a mid morning snack. I was starving by lunch and made the mistake of eating the chips and cheese, the mid morning snack may have been the solution.
Does anyone want to take a guess of how many calories I consumed. I have no idea!! Too many to help lose weight-that's for sure!!!!
It's 10:00pm and I've read that sleep is an important factor in losing weight. So I will log off and try to go to bed before my usual midnight bedtime. It will be hard. Tomorrow's Agenda-8am workout, 9am tennis clinic, rest of the day-errands!!!!
Sleep tight!!!

Better late than never
Happy New Year everyone!!! January is already moving right along-leaving me to play catch up. We had a great Christmas!!! We went to see Dan's family in Canada. It was great getting to see all the snow. (and all the family) Canadians don't think anything of all that snow-they just keep going. Dan's sister lives in VT, so we took a day trip to Burlington during our visit. She fed us meat pies!! Oh my goodness-they are so good!!! Thanks to Elena, we will be having meat pies monthly!!! She also fed us carrots glazed in maple syrup. Our eyes will definitely see clearer in 2011 since it too is my new favorite item to cook. We returned from Canada the Thursday before Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve with my family. The traditional gathering of my parents and my brother's family. We are a small bunch but the gift giving is huge!!! The children take all the gifts from the tree and separate them by names. The adults are still gathered around the table taking their time to eat. I remember the same scenario at my grandmothers and the feeling of frustration so I hurried not to upset the children. Their excitement was close to bursting!! HA
Christmas Day is usually quiet at our house but this year we invited friends over. The Delisi's don't have any family in town so it was our treat to host them for dinner Christmas Day. Regardless of how many people are at our house Christmas Day, Dan always cooks a 20lb turkey. Dan cooks the majority of the meal on Christmas Day. Thank you very much hubby!!! I am in charge of sweets. I usually also cook a sweet potato casserole but decided against it this year since I am the only one who really eats it. My northern husband did not grow up on sweet potatoes and has no interest in eating them. Fine-have it your way but your missing out!!!!
So now it's January and as I said before, I'm busy catching up from the holiday craziness!! Christmas decorations are in the dinning room waiting to be placed in boxes. I've ignored them for two weeks now. I promise tomorrow they will disappear!!! January has started off great. I've finished reading The Middle Place. I love to read but I rarely have time so I'm happy to report that I've read one book this year and it's only day 16. Reading more is always on my New Years Resolution list. The year I also gave up coffee. I'm back on green tea. If your a regular reader then you know I am always going back and forth.
So I know that I haven't been posting but I think that's all about to change. I got an Ipad for Christmas and I will soon be ordering the bluetooth keyboard to go with it. I think this will help. I guess you'll know soon enough.
So Dan and I are off to Deer Valley at the end of this month. It's an incentive trip and we will be going to the Sundance Film Festival. Very Exciting!! I'm fretting over what to wear. I really need to get busy packing. We will have the opportunity to ski and go bobsledding. Super cool!! I've never tried bobsledding- a first!! We will also see two movie premiers. One is called Margin Call with Kevin Spacey and Demi Moore. The other is The Music Never Stopped. I don't recognize any of the names listed. Lou Taylor Pucci J.K Simmons and Cara Seymour.
It's bedtime. Enjoy the pictures!!! The first one is in front of Dan's parents house. The second one is the girls and I with Dan's sister's family in VT. Megan gave her snow suit to her cousin Kennedy. We were telling her how pretty she was. The third is of my family on Christmas Eve. And the last one is of the girls in front of where Dan grew up skiing and also the first place I ever skied. (Shawinigan)
